On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 65 girls per year in India.
The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.
To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.
Aanaya’s Story
“I have actively participated in our school robotics team and I wish to make a robot for my clothing boutique, which instantly stitches my designs”
Aanaya lives with her mother, sister and two brothers. She adores her mother because she does not discriminate between her children and encourages both her sons and daughters to learn how to cook, clean and take care of the household. She is the only breadwinner and Aanaya’s educational costs puts a lot of pressure on her. Aanaya desires to help contribute to the family by excelling in school and being able to achieve her dream of becoming a designer and successful entrepreneurial woman.
“Last year I had Typhoid which hampered my education and shook our financial condition. My mother was already struggling to satisfy our basics needs, but my health made our situation worse. Now I am relieved, as the CGEF has taken care of my expenses, have relieved the tensions from my mother and I am performing much better than the year before.”
