On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 19 girls per year in Nigeria.
The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.
To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.
Princess’ Story
“You have been of tremendous assistance to the less privileged students and words cannot express my deepest appreciation to you”
Princess was sponsored for six years by the CGEF and initially faced challenges academically. This was because she had to do a lot of domestic work for her mother after school, which made it difficult for her to concentrate on studying. She appealed to the CGEF to allow her to move into the school hostel as a boarder so that she could improve on her grades. With encouragement and financial support, Princess was able to steadily improve and ultimately graduated from high school this year.
“I wish to tell you that I am seeking admission into the University of Abuja which will serve as a stepping stone to my success of becoming a lawyer”
