On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 10 girls per year in Cameroon.
The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.
To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.
Victorine’s Story
Victorine is an excellent student and hopes to become an accountant one day. Her father is a mission teacher and struggles to cover the school fees for Victorine and her older brothers and sisters. Before the CGEF began sponsoring her, she was often unable to attend school because her school fees were later, or she was force to go without basic needs. In late 2017, it was too dangerous for her to go to school because of the ongoing crisis in Cameroon. But the school now has 24-hour security to protect their students from the violence.
With the help of the CGEF sponsorship, Victorine continues to work hard and excel in her studies.
