On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 2 girls per year in Botswana.
The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.
To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.
Botshelo’s Story
“I want to be a lawyer so that I can help the less privileged, children, old aged and women, so that their voices can be heard”
Botshelo had always been academically gifted, but since the CGEF started sponsoring her grades have improved significantly. Her head teacher was so impressed that he made her Head Girl of her boarding school this year.
In a letter of thanks, Botshelo told us that the CGEF sponsorship has not only helped her financially and academically, but it also made her feel loved, accepted and cared for. She no longer has to worry about whether she will be able to pay for sports equipment and study materials.
“Sponsorship has boosted my morale. I wish to do well in all of my subjects, especially languages, as I believe this will help me to achieve my dream of becoming a lawyer and be a role model to the youth of Botswana.
